Service Animals

You can’t take a dog on public transportation in NYC unless the dog has service dog tags or is small enough to fit in a bag. Service tags in NYC have become hard to get. They now require a letter from a trainer saying the dog has been trained as a service dog. And the Dept. of Health can decide the trainer who write you the letter isn’t qualified. Stupid rules-dogs used as companions for people with psychiatric disabilities don’t necessarily need special training.

Out of state tags are perfectly fine. The federal people with disabilities act forbids anyone from asking a person with a service animal what their disability is -just so you know that.
